Legiona Keener Park

Legion Keener Park is a 52-acre community park located at 1658 Catherine Street in downtown Latrobe, Pennsylvania. This beautifully landscaped and impressively-equipped park offers areas for play, barbecuing, swimming and spectating. It has a 3-mile fitness trail for walking, jogging, rollerblading and biking. Sports abound, it has softball fields, baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, sand and grass volleyball courts, and a handball court – all right near Latrobe Memorial Stadium. Kids can enjoy the Creekside Nature Trail and kid's play areas. Entertainment can be had at the bandshell.

Every year the park hosts an annual 4th of July Festival with fireworks and a carnival. Latrobe Memorial Stadium, home to the Greater Latrobe Wildcats, host to the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason game in August and many events throughout the year.

Playland II, the main playground, is a combination of wooden castle and play palace. There are slides, swings, mazes, and towers for the kids to climb. It's popular and well-designed area that captures the imagination of children.

The Rogers-McFeely Memorial Pool is available during the summer months. You can purchase passes through the Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation office.

If you want to rent a pavilion, you can find pricing for Pavilion Rentals here. The largest pavilion has a 250-person capacity, plus you can also rent the entire park!

Legion Keener is maintained by Latrobe-GLSD Parks and Recreation who offer a number of programs for residents which are published twice a year in the Times.

Rules of the Park

  1. Normal park hours are from 9:00 am to Dusk.
  2. All vehicles must stay on established roadways and parking areas. You may use the park roadway to drop off or deliver supplies, etc.
  3. After unloading, vehicles must be removed promptly.
  4. In the interest of safety, and for the preservation, maintenance, and beauty of our park, no vehicles, unless given special permission by the Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation office, are to be operated within the park.
  5. Fires are permitted in grills and barbecue pits only.
  6. Alcoholic beverages, animals (including dogs), firearms, fireworks, ATVs, (or any other motorized vehicles) are NOT permitted in the park.
  7. Please do not use bicycles, skateboards, scooters, etc. inside the pavilions.
  8. Please DO NOT feed animals (squirrels, birds, etc.) in the park.
  9. In order for your security Deposit to be refunded, the park facilities must be left in the same condition as they were found upon your arrival (If you move picnic tables, etc. put them back). All signs, banners, decorations, etc. must be removed.
  10. Groups or organizations will be held responsible for any damage to the park facilities.
  11. All special uses of the park (i.e.: fairs, amusements, rides, porta-johns, tents, sales, organized group activities, vendors, or events involving more than 400 people) must be approved by the Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation office.
  12. Rental fees include site preparation, electricity, and garbage removal.
  13. If park security is required, please notify the Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation office.
  14. Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property.
  15. Refunds will not be given for inclement weather.
  16. In case of an emergency, a park emergency "911" telephone is located on the outside wall of the comfort station.
